Peaceful Mountain Cabin tucked away on a country road deep in the heart of North Carolin's Blue Ridge Mountains. This is a private, year-round mountain retreat on 15 secluded acres with Wildcat Creek at bottom of property for hearty hikers. Experience natural beauty of the mountain serenity of a quieter, more relaxed vacation with many attractions & activities within minutes. Area Details North Carolina is blessed with the oldest and most lush mountain ranges in the world. The entire western part of North Carolina is covered by the mighty Blue Ridge, a magnificent range of Mountains that is home to the High Country.
Located in northwestern-most part of the state, the Blue Ridge High Country has the highest average land elevation in the Eastern United States. We have Mt. Mitchell (6,684'), the highest mountain, and Linville Gorge, the deepest gorge East of the Missisippi River.
TAYLOR'S PEAK where the cabin is located is blessed to have the Blue Ridge Parkway, America's most scenic byway, known as the "sanctuary of high places" within a mile away. The Parkway, a part of the US National Park Service is the most visited of all of the National Parks. It stretches 469 miles along the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina and Virginia.
Adventure seekers will delight in the many adrenaline-inducing activities in the High Country area. From white-water rafting, canoeing (the New River, the 2nd oldest river in the world!) and biking (the famous Virginia Creeper Trail, 90 mins. away), to hiking (Appalachian Trail, Mountains-to-Sea Trail and others to numerous to mention), horseback riding and rock climbing, there's something for every adventuresome soul. Of course in the winter, the adventure is on the slopes! Four ski areas offer thrilling ski runs, snowboarding, tubing and ice skating.
For those who prefer a shopping adventure, the Blue Ridge High Country has an abundance of shops, boutiques, outlets, and quaint little country stores (historic Todd & Mast General less than 30 mins. away). There is a variety of local art and crafts, mountain/bluegrass music (home of Doc Watson here in Deep Gap where cabin is located), as well as many Mountain craft festivals continuously going on.
It is a glorious region and we hope you will come and enjoy the cabin at Taylor's Peak in the High Country. At the cabin you can greet the day with coffee or tea on the balcony as the sun rises, chatting about your plans for the day. You can then close the day on the swing or rocking chairs from the porch watching the sun sink behind the mountains or enjoying a soak in the outdoor hot tub whlle you plan the next days adventure.
