We live in an older three-story home located in a quiet neighborhood of Kansas City. Kansas City is located in the center of America. Use our home as a base as you travel by plane, car or train to any major city in America, yet experience the true living experience of most Americans when you are relaxing at home in Kansas City.
My name is Gloria Squitiro and I live in the USA. We are searching for a long-term or a short-term exchange in Europe. My husband Mark is a university professor who will be taking a sabbatical in the summer of 2006. He will be using this time to work on a research project in Europe from May to July 2006. His research will have him traveling to 5 different cities in Europe and while we would like to call one city our home for the seven weeks we will be in Europe, if that is too long of an exchange for you, we can consider a two to three week exchange instead.
Kansas City is typically referred to as "the heart of America" as it is
located in the middle of America - it is also known as being the
"gateway" to the West. If you are interested in seeing the West, Kansas
City is a very easy drive to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. The
drive itself is very scenic, taking you through the prairies and
sunflower fields of Kansas as you climb into the foothills of the Rocky
Mountains as you near Denver. From Denver, it is a
breathtakingly gorgeous drive to Aspen. Aspen is a premier skiing town
in the winter, but in the summer, there are host of other outdoor
activities to partake in, from canoeing, mountain climbing, biking and
hiking. The beauty of Aspen in the summer is that you get luxury
accommodations at bargain basement prices. If you are into camping,
another beautiful drive from Denver is Rocky Mountain National park
located in Estes Park, Colorado. In Estes Park you can soak up the
mountains, go horseback riding or have a round of golf and you can
choose any kind of accommodations you can imagine, from tents to cabins to luxury chalets.
If the bright lights of the big city are more your taste, but you
don't want to spend the entire summer in an expensive city,
then Kansas City is the place for you as we are just a 2 hour
flight to Chicago or a 3 hour flight to most destinations in New York or
California. Bargain air travel is easy to arrange. Train service is also available from
Kansas City to anywhere else in the country. The train is a great way to
travel if you have time and would like to view our countryside in a
very relaxed manner. The train ride from Kansas City to Los Angeles
takes you on a southern loop through our country, with breathtaking
sites all along the way. The trip takes about 28 hours. The northern
loop back to Kansas City will have you crossing the continental divide,
but don't worry, it's not too scary. You can also take a scenic train
ride to New York city and visit all the sites that city has to offer
like the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State building.
Kansas City is a medium-sized city that in and of itself has much to
offer. Our home is an easy walk to a world renowned art museum and
an upscale shopping district. We also offer theater, symphony, 4 star
dining, many parks, golf, tennis and walking trails. If blues or jazz
music is of interest to you, we have many fine venues featuring this
type of music. Kansas City is also home to a major league baseball
team, the Kansas City Royals and to a national football team, the
Kansas City Chiefs. If you are interested in taking a college course,
there are many universities to choose from, the closest being the
University of Missouri and the University of Kansas. My husband
teaches doctoral students at both of these universities. If bargain
shopping is in your plans, Kansas city has several retail outlets to
choose from to find the bargain of a lifetime. Or, if you are looking
to take home a fine antique at wholesale prices, Kansas City offers
estate sales almost every day of the week. Personally, estate sang
is one of my true loves and my home is filled with many wonderful items
that I've found at these sales.
If you would like an inexpensive trip to the country, we also own a
small piece of land with two cozy little cabins in the Ozark mountains
of Missouri. You are welcome to use one of our vehicles to make the
drive down to our little slice of heaven. From our property you can
walk to view several old home sites from long ago, or long ago, compared to
American standards that is! Continue walking our land and you will
come to a bluff that overlooks our creek and several small caves. If
you walk the banks of the creek a short distance you will run into to a
very secluded river. If you would like a scenic drive, just a short
distance away are many recreational areas where you can choose to do
anything from rock climbing, cave exploration, river rafting or hiking.
Or, from our land, you can make a day or weekend trip to visit the
arch in St. Louis.
We will be traveling with our son Andrew, 16 yrs and our daughter Tara,
20 yrs. Other family members might join us from time to time, but we'll believe
it when we see it. We are open to all areas in Europe, but our top choice
is Vienna, with Italy, France, Spain and the UK coming a close second choice.

and we'll start making plans. Area Details There are two beautiful public golf courses and two major themeparks within the city limits. Travel Details Our home is within walking distance to many wonderful happenings in the city. We also have bus, taxi and limo services. We have a few vehicles that we could also possibly share with you.
