Property Details 3 Bedroom townhouse with ocean views. 1 1/2 bathrooms. Sleeps 6, 3 double beds. Easy care and cozy, not overly luxurious but with all mod cons. DVD, VCR, PC with cable internet access, washer/dryer, small fenced garden plus balcony for ocean views. I have no small children so there isn't much for them to do in the house but there are endless places to explore outdoors, on the waterfront, parks etc. Car needed as insurance is a problem. Car rental here is cheap and there is much to see and do within an hour or two. Close by there are lots of restaurants, shopping, scuba diving, parks, waterfront, foot ferry to downtown Vancouver, seaplanes to same. Victoria is 1.5 hours away. Tofino, surfing, beachcombing and whale watching is 2.5 hours by car or Tofino bus. Hiking, antiques, quaint smaller towns, endless beaches to the north, wildlife and all conveniences of the city very close by. All of our Gulf Islands are unique and gorgeous and just short ferry rides away. Gabriola Island (20 min ferry) has been named the "Isle of the Arts" as there are many wonderful artists and artisans there and all over the island. Gorgeous Vancouver Island (especially Nanaimo) has now been discovered by the cruise ship industry and we get several ships stopping in over the summer and fall. See www.nanaimo.ca for more pics. Lots of golfing in and around the area as well. You name it, we've got it and May is a a lovely time to visit before too many tourists arrive and boy do they! Area Details The townhouse is in a quiet complex a few minutes drive from old downtown Nanaimo and the waterfront. The neighbours are quiet and the house is clean, comfortable and cozy. We have a cat that will be taking a holiday elsewhere for convenience sake. Elvis Costello and Diana Krall still have a house in Nanaimo as Diana says she's never found another place in the world that equals the beauty of her hometown Nanaimo. Travel Details Car is necessary as public transport isn't great. There is a train once or twice a day to Victoria if you don't wish to drive but the drive anywhere here is lovely. There are so many things to see and do on Vancouver Island and all are within a short drive.
