It is situated centrally on the island along excellent highway routes south and north. Nanaimo has all of the conveniences of a large city without the traffic and congestion. It is a seaside city and takes pride in its beautiful setting. Nanaimo is ideally located to take advantage of outdoor activities such as sailing charters, fishing charters, whale watching and camping. Locally there is very good shopping, theaters and a selection of restaurants. Travel Details Public transport is available across the street at a small shoppin mall which also has a large gorcery store and several smaller retail outlets. Other transport (bus) is available a short distance away which will take a visitor to Victoria (1/1/2 hours south) or to the ferries to Vancouver (1/1/2 ferry ride)
