Property Details
Our building is located in the best part of town (no kidding), on a quiet, tree-lined street, dotted with turn-of-the-century villas. Our building was built in 1902.
The appartment is 122 sqm and has a large kitchen/dining room, three other rooms plus a balcony. We have recently renovated the appartment and kept every original architectural details.
For the summer in a longer exchange, we would also include our summer place. It's about 2 hours drive from Budapest on the northern side of Lake Balaton (Central Europe's biggest lake) in the middle of a wine-growing region. It includes two restored peasant houses (white-washed walls, thatched-roof, and original furniture) with 5 (five!) bedrooms.
Area Details
Our area is on the Buda side of the River Danube, close to major transportation hubs, but just far enough to be absolutely peaceful. The area was built out in the beginning of the XX. century. Close to us is a major produce market as well as a huge shopping/entertainment complex. Also close by is Budapest's best park, which was an old factory site restored with artifical lakes, outdoor cafes, and old factory buildings which currently serve as performance and exhibition space as well as varied cultural programming.
The summer place is in the middle of the Kali-basin, which is an area surrounded by old volcanic hills. There are 8 villages in the basin, where Budapest intellectual crowd has been buying and restoring properties since the '70s. The lake itself is about 10 minute driving (half an hour on a bike).

Tram and bus stops are close by. Metro station is about 10 minutes walk. |
