Our two-level restored farmhouse (stone, beams) set in a rural village in a vineyards area has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and is spacious enough to accommodate eight people comfortably.
The small yet well-equipped (dishwasher) kitchen is open to the living-room which has a big fireplace, the sitting-room offers a view of the garden. There are two TVs,VCR, steroplayers. In the big barn you can find some bikes, camping gear and you can play table-tennis.
The house is surrounded by the garden and at the back there's a small pool (3.5 meters diameter and 0.90m depth) which children and even adults aprreciate when it's very hot .
We live in a rural place five miles from Arbois (Pasteur's country). It is in the Jura ( famous for its cheese and wines) which is the natural border between France and Switzerland. It is a land of forests, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and caves.
A lot of outdoor activities can be done ( canoeing, walking, fishing, climbing, paragliding, cycling, tennis, horseriding,,,), but there are also a lot of interesting places to visit. You like tasting wine, cheese, gastronomy : it won't be difficult to find a good place to dine out!
Historic Besançon, Dijon, Dole and Beaune are within an hour's drive and Genève and Lausanne can be reached in two hours.
Five miles from our house is a station where the TGV (high speed train) can take you to Paris in two hours and a half.
If you want to see more about the area you can visit :

We have a five passenger, air conditioned Renault Megane Scenic and a small Fiat which are included in the exchange.
We have two pets : an old dog who would appreciate being cared but it is not required and a cat used to living outside.
We are a no-smoking family.
We are interested in any place not too far from Cleveland, Ohio (300 to 400 miles) since our daughter Helen will be at a tennis camp in Oberlin and we would like to take her for the week-end. Toronto, Buffalo, Niagara falls or anything between Washington and Cleveland would be OK. The exchange has to be simultaneous.
Four weeks starting around 12th of july 2001.
Jean –Luc (44) is the headmaster of Arbois primary school and I , Martine, (43) teach English in a secondary school in Salins.
We have two daughters : Anne(19) is an optician and her friend Guillaume (20) who is training to be a photonics engineer live in Dijon and Helen (16) who still lives with us and who wants to be a sports teacher.
At least three of us will travel ,may be five for part of the time if Anne and Guillaume can get some vacation.
We have no experience in house exchanging but have already started a visitor's guide full of useful documents to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
