A car swap is possible, and we have bicycles (4), tennis rackets, etc. Area Details Charlottesville is a charming University town, home to Thomas Jefferson, in the heart of the historic Civil War area. There are loads of cultural and fun activities here for both kids and adults; good restaurants, theatres, jazz clubs, concerts, art galleries. It's within easy day-trip distance of many wonderful (and kid friendly!) activities/locations: Washington, DC (home to America's finest museums, monuments, etc.) is a 2-hour drive away; Shenandoah National Park (Appalachian Trail, many other beautiful hikes) is 20 minutes away; King's Dominion (huge amusement park) is 1 1/2 hours away; beaches 3 hours away; plus Luray Caverns, quality wineries, river rafting, swimming holes, Civil War battlefields, architectural wonders (Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, University of Virginia, etc.) right next door.
