Sit back on the patio and enjoy watching the surf roll in, or take the lift down from the 9th floor to the ground, and enjoy the communal barbecue area, half tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, spas and sauna.Chat to the live-in managers at the front desk. Then you could- cross the street to the park with walking track, or take the fine minute walk to Big Burleigh, the National Park which follows the coastline.Or cross the street and the park and hit the fine white sands of Burleigh Beach for a surf. Or walk along the street 3 minutes to the shops and eateries Burleigh has to offer...As for the building itself: there is secure undercover parking for one car. Our unit was refurbished in 2002 and is well-furnished and equipped. There are two bedrooms, both carpeted, with built-ins. The main has a queen-size bed, and opens onto the main verandah. The second bedroom has a single bed, and a bunk bed which is double below and single on top. It has a little verandah off it. There are two bathrooms, the one off the main bedroom has a shower; the other has a bath with shower over, and clothes-washer and dryer. The carpeted living area also opens onto the main verandah, and has TV, videoplayer and stereo, ceiling fans and lots of books, as well as comfortable furniture and gorgeous art works. There is a dining table indoors as well as a small outdoor table/chairs on the verandah. The funky kitchen has a breakfast bar with 4 stools, as well as dishwasher, plenty of crockery, glasses, etc. It is not a huge unit, being about 80 square meters (ish) , but it is well-planned and we have had many happy holidays there. We do not smoke and prefer others to smoke outdoors. We can exchange during QLD School holidays. We're interested in travel within Australia and further afield. Area Details Burleigh Heads is located in-between Coolangatta and Surfers Paradise beaches, on Queensland’s famous Gold Coast, and is well-known as one of the best surf-breaks on the coast.
It’s family friendly, with surf-lifesavers patrolling flagged areas. Burleigh beach is lined with parkland, with walking and cycle paths, and picnic and BBQ areas. Gorgeous beaches and great food make the perfect blend on a sunny day.
Try the local cuisine in one of the beachfront cafes or restaurants. It’s a short walk to the wonderful National Park where you can see some fabulous scenery and there are a number of walking trails which you can follow around the coastline, which are very pretty.
The great art and craft markets which are very popular are on at Burleigh, right in front of our unit, on the last Sunday of every month (or one of three other beaches on the other Sundays) .
Burleigh Heads has great shopping and plenty of variety in food choices. We tend to park the car and not use it again during our stays, as everywhere is walkable. Our last exchangees found buses were easy and handy and the building managers were helpful about schedules.
To do the tourist thing, a short drive takes you to a host of Australian wildlife at David Fleays Wildlife Park, and at Currumbin Bird Sanctuary. Drive to Gold Coast tourist attractions like Sea world, Dream world, Movie world and Jupiters Casino. Nearby at Coolangatta is a local airport which flies directly to all capital cities within Australia.
Heading inland, West Burleigh is home to a large
shopping park where you can find almost anything.
Burleigh is an hour’s drive to Brisbane, and a one hour (ish) flight to Sydney. It’s just a great holiday destination.
