We have a beautiful, 2 bedroom (3-5 persons) in a 1930's Swedish cottage style townhouse that has been newly painted and equipped with new kitchen appliances. We appreciate smart and trendy interior design and therefore, have new, modern-style Danish-designed furniture. There are many windows that let the sun in and plants abound. One bedroom has a huge "King" size bed with a balcony attached, and has a TV/VCR/CD/DVD player. The other bedroom has a Full size bed with a rocking chair. Our huge and comfy sofa can accomodate one additional person and we have extra mattresses that can be used on the floor, if necessary. We have plans to buy a large screen TV to be placed in the living room over the summer or some time soon. We also have a fully equipped computer with scanner and printer and DSL access to the Internet (24-hour connection)...yes, we're computer junkies! If you're looking for a relaxing night at home, you can certainly take full use of an extensive CD, DVD, video and book library. We also have 3 bikes that can be used, and bike pathes are everywhere, making Uppsala a very easy city to get around by bike. However, if you're not the cyclist-type, the town has easy bus access everywhere, with a busstop just 50 meters away from our house (buses go every 30 minutes). We also have huge cherry and apple trees, from which you are free to take fruit if you're here at the right time. There's a yard, lawn table/chairs, and a small pit for you to have an 8 person barbecue.
Do you want to feel like a local and buy fresh bread at a store that is walking distance from where you live? Do want to bike to the market or take a short bus trip to the center of a beautifully, old, cobble-stoned town where buildings you see are over 300 years old? Do you want to experience a little quieter vacation, but not be too far from the big city in order to enjoy the best of 2 worlds? Uppsala is the place for you! It is a university town, about 45 min. north by train from Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. Uppsala has the oldest university (Uppsala University) in Scandinavia, having been established in the 1400's. See a breathtaking view of the church spiral (Domkyrka) and take a coffee and sweet at an old Konditori (coffee and bakery shop). You can also visit the 3 mounds, where old viking kings were buried. Our house is about 50 meters (across the street pretty much) from a bus that goes every 30 minutes. It takes 5 minutes by bus, 8 minutes to bike, and 25 minutes to walk to the center of town. The train station, which has bi-hourly trains to Stockholm, is a 10-15 minute walk from the house. Also, there is a large park across the street, and 2 nearby grocery stores that are within a 5-10 minute walk. It's in a quiet yet relatively central, well-manicured neighborhood that has friendly neighbors that have been around for decades.
Busstop is 50 m from house (or a 30 sec. walk). Bikes available for use, bike pathes throughout the city.
