Cozy, safe, "Amsterdam school" style (1920's) complex in Oud Zuid (old south) neighborhood. South facing, ground floor apartment, hardwood floors, with large entry/foyer(bike parking), living room and bedroom en suite, large dining room/kitchen with french doors facing porch and japanese-style garden containing several large trees. We don't own or need a car here, but there's free parking nearby. New sofa/futon, an antique bed, modern kitchen with all appliances. Fast cable internet. Includes use of two Amsterdam city bikes.
Area Details
A very interesting corner of the city even a lot of Amsterdammers don't know (although property prices here are skyrocketing), surrounded by three parks: The Rembrantpark, The Vondelpark and the huge Amsterdamse Bos sitting on the lovely Nieuwe Meer, a bird reserve. There is an amazing old cemetery across the street which is now also a public park with benches looking out over idylic pastures... its hard to imagine that you're in a city. Surrounded with Dutch "arks", which are beautiful houseboats. The population is extremely diverse with many nationalities represented, English is spoken by everyone, good ethnic restaurants and shopping. 15 minutes to historic Amsterdam center.
Travel Details
Excellent public transport by bus, tram, Sneltram(very fast), and fast, cheap trains to nearby cities of Leiden, Delft, Rotterdam ("Manhattan on the Maas"...the worlds busiest port), Antwerp, Gent, Brugges, Brussels and Paris. |
