Property Details
Our home is located approximately 20 miles north of San Francisco in the historic town of San Rafael. We are a family of 4 traveling to Australia for a 3-month sabbatical, beginning in December 2002.
The house is a 5 bedroom/ 3 baths with two large living areas and a beautiful backyard that includes a deck and hot tub (great for those cool nights). The house has two open log burning fireplaces (with gas ignition for easy starting those large logs). The master bedroom is beautifully designed as is the ensuite bathroom that also has a very large hot tub. A downstairs bedroom has its own bathroom for complete privacy. The upstairs office (one of the five bedrooms) has a computer, printer, fax, and two-line telephone. Cars could be available for the duration of a stay if needed. There is also a substantial amount of sporting equipment available as needed, including two adult mountain bikes, tennis racquets, and golf clubs. Tennis courts are close by and a golf course is within a two-minute drive. We are looking for a couple/ family that will look after our house carefully but enjoy its casual atmosphere. The neighborhood where we live has wonderful people and very family oriented parks and excellent schools. The surrounding attractions include many state and local parks that are ideal for walking/hiking, running, mountain biking, etc. Beautiful beaches are very close, including some within 5 miles of the house. If sailing is of interest one will be able to explore and take advantage of three large marinas all within 2 miles of our house.
San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area offers many cultural and family attractions that will keep you entertained for months at a time. The famous and internationally recognized wine region, Napa Valley, is only 30 minutes north of San Rafael. The California coast north of San Rafael (and San Francisco) offers unlimited opportunities for weekend getaways. The Sierra Nevada ski fields are only 3 hours and easily accessible by car. Los Angles is only a 1-hour plane trip south.
Area Details Marin county is known for its abundance of outdoor activities and proximity to San Francisco with it's nightlife, culture and fabulous array of restaurants. We love living in this part of the world as there are so many things to keep us occupied. We live adjacent to a state park and often have family "cocktail hour" at the beach. Travel Details Beautiful ferry into San Francisco.
