The house is on the first floor of a nice holiday home (ground floor and first floor) five minutes from three different sandy beaches; two bedrooms, one with king size bed and air conditionig/heating and the other with 2 bunk beds and heating for winter nights, living room with kitchen, one bathroom with W. M. , a big balcony with a beautiful view and two long chairs; two tables to eat inside or outside in the balcony. The perfect place for a quiet holiday if you want relax on the beach or if you like to walk in the near countryside or in the mountains of Barbagia, but not far from a live night life in Costa Smeralda if you sometime wish to experience the glamour of luxurious nights, restaurants and exclusive beaches. Possibility of renting boats to go fishing with or without crew by sailing from Porto Ottiolu (10 min.).
Possibility to visit and stay in the west coast of Sardinia by renting my other apartment in Alghero: http://www.villa-vacation.com/details_6483.htm Area Details The house is in the east coast of Sardinia, in Tanaunella, a little village 5 minutes from Budoni (a famous holiday village) in the new province of Olbia-Tempio (it was in the province of Nuoro, 40 minutes by car, until 2004).
There are two beaches (spiagge) at three minutes by car from the house: Spiaggia di Sant'Anna and Spiaggia di Porto Ainu. Another one, more secluded, is at 8-10 minutes going south towards Posada: Spiaggia di Matta e Peru.
The massif of Gennargentu, the only part of Sardinia with high mountains where it is possible to ski, is only one hour by car. Nearest famous village is San Teodoro (15 min.); splendid old town of Alghero in the west coast is 1h,40min. Beautiful beaches and mountains all around you. The real, rich of traditions, ancient Sardinia is just 50 minutes, in Barbagia.
The perfect starting point for discovering either the famous Costa Smeralda (30 minutes north by car) with its magnificent beaches and villas and night life or the real Sardinia traditions in the ancient small villages in the center of the island, called Barbagia, rich of history and environmental beauties.
Going south you can visit Posada (with the remains of a castle uphill) and its enormous beach, Dorgali, Cala Gonone, Cala Cartoe, Cala Luna, Cala Sisine and Cala Mariolu. You can go there by boat or walking along the so called codule, narrow gorges descending from mountains towards the coast.
Going north, most famous villages and beaches are, in order: Porto Ottiolu, La Cinta (a beach near San Teodoro), Puntaldia, Cala Brandinchi, Cala Ginepro, Punta Molara, Cala Ghjilgolu, Porto Taverna, Isola dei Cavalli, Isola di Tavolara (you can go there by boat from Porto San Paolo), Porto Istana and then the famous little beaches of Costa Smeralda.
