Property Details
Our home is a large (2200 sq. ft. / 200 sq. m.), three-bedroom house in a beautiful Montreal greystone built in 1900. Completely restored in the mid-nineties, it has kept many original features, such as its old pine wooden floors, its structural brick walls, and its old wood staircase. High ceilings with original moldings make it even more inviting. The house has a balcony in the front, and a quiet enclosed terrace on the second floor in the back of the house. The terrace is a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast, afternoon sunbathing or an evening drink.
Our house accommodates 6-7 people very comfortably. And is located on a quiet tree-lined street in the heart of Montreal's trendy Plateau Mont-Royal district.
The main floor features a comfortably appointed dining area and an antique dining room table that seats 14 comfortably, a large living room with French doors, a modern kitchen, and an office.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the comforts that you’ll need: fridge, stove, dishwasher, and cappuccino machine. We also have a charcoal bar-b-q, located off the terrace.
The office includes a computer with high-speed Internet access, stereo, and CD player, and lots of books in French and English.
Upstairs you will find two large bedrooms in addition to a smaller one. The master bedroom, located in the front, has an exposed brick wall, a queen-sized bed, television, VCR, and DVD.
The second bedroom is located on the back of the house overlooking the terrace. It has 2 single beds.
A third smaller room can be used as an additional bedroom or as a sitting room.
The upstairs bathroom is very spacious and is equipped with a separate shower with a 12-inch rain head and an oversized cast iron antique bathtub.
The house has a finished basement with a double bed, a full bathroom, a television and VCR, and toys, toys, and more toys.
Other amenities include washer/dryer, central alarm system, and two adult bicycles. A housekeeper for one day a week cleaning is also available.
We are non-smokers and would ask that you not smoke in the house.
Since we have two young children, our home is equipped for babies and children if you have them.
Auto Exchange
We also have a 4 door Honda Accord that would be available for exchange. It is an automatic with air conditioning. Area Details The Plateau Mont-Royal
Ignored not so long ago, The Plateau Mont-Royal is a très hip multi-ethnic district designated the most en vogue neighborhood of North America by Wallpaper magazine. Originally a working class district, ”The Plateau” has grown to be a favorite home for local artists, students, professionals, and young families.
The Plateau is an exciting and “in” place to live. Full of ornate 19th-century Victorian style homes, the neighborhood is stylish, colorful and fantastic to walk around. The streets are always bustling with street musicians, couples walking hand in hand or pushing baby carriages, and people walking home after work with groceries for the evening meal.
The Plateau abounds in eateries (restaurants, bakeries, cafés, cheese shops), hopping nightclubs and bars, and funky shops. Within walking distance of our front steps you will find movie theatres, art galleries, museums and much more. And if you like shopping, then you'll really love this area, we are located between boulevard St. Laurent (referred to as 'The Main' by locals) and rue St. Denis, two main commercial strips. Both are lined with fashionable boutiques.
Our house is located next to the restaurant-bulging Rue Prince Arthur which is always alive with activity. Over on the next street, you can admire the spectacular properties of rue Laval and Carré St Louis and relax by the fountain on the square. We are also a twenty minute walk from both Chinatown and historic Old Montreal, with its cobblestone streets and beautiful old buildings. If you walk a little bit further through Old Montreal you will reach the Old Port. We are also a fifteen minute walk from the Montreal Museum of Fine Art as well as the beautiful Mont-Royal park. This is Montreal's biggest and best park, designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, the same landscape architect who designed Central Park in New York City. Simply known as “the mountain”, it is a huge tree-covered park sprouting with nature lovers throughout the year and with exceptional views of the Montreal skyline, the river, and surrounds.
You will never run out of things to do in this neighborhood!
Montréal
Aside from its well-deserved reputation as a culinary and shopping haven, Montréal, which is the second-largest French-speaking city in the world, is also known for its many internationally acclaimed festivals taking place throughout the summer, the most popular being the world-renowned Jazz Festival in early July. The city also boasts numerous museums, theatres and other entertainment possibilities.
Montreal is a city where walking is both enjoyable and safe.
Montréal is less than a hour drive into the Laurentians and the Eastern Townships both with beautiful and relaxing mountains and lakes. The U. S. border (Vermont or NY State) is only an hour away. Travel Details Close by to the house is an underground metro station which makes all the other city areas easily accessible. Also close by is one of Montreal’s numerous bicycle paths.
