Our home has two areas, the main floor is on the upper level. It has two bedrooms: one with a double bed and the other with a queen size bed (the bedrooms are small but both beds are very comfortable); the living room with gas fireplace; the dining room; the family room with TV/VCR, stereo, sofabed which sleeps two and the computer with 24 hour high speed internet access; the main bathroom with tub and shower; the smaller bathroom with shower stall; the modern kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave and all the other usual appliances. Just outside the kitchen door is a large deck. On the deck is a gas barbeque, lots of patio furniture and a nice view of the surrounding area. The lower or ground level of the house contains a one bedroom apartment which we use mainly for visiting family and friends.
The apartment has a separate kitchen with a stove, refrigerator with freezer, microwave etc. The very pretty view from the kitchen window is of the yard and apple trees. There is a living room with a sectional sofa which converts to a very comfortable double bed so four people can be accommodated. There is also a TV/VCR, a stereo plus CD player. The bedroom has a queen size sleigh bed. The bathroom has a tub with shower. The apartment is completely separate and private from the main part of the house and has it's own entrance. It is perfect for non simultaneous exchanges! Depending on the size of your family you can stay in the main part of the house or the apartment. We have arranged exchanges both ways and have twice moved into the apartment to leave the main portion of the house for our partners. The lower level of the house also has the laundry room with washer and dryer and the garage.
The yard contains a lovely brick patio complete with Adirondack chairs and a market umbrella which you are sure to enjoy on a hot day. There is a propane barbeque outside the door to the suite and patio furniture for outdoor entertaining or dining. The relaxing outdoor jacuzzi/spa is perfect after a busy day touring our beautiful city! The jacuzzi is easily accessible to both the upper and lower levels. The yard and gardens are beautiful and well tended. There are lots of flowers, trees and plants. The yard is very private. There is a sprinkler system so you will not have to worry about watering except two or three pots of flowers by the front door. We will arrange to have the grass mowed as well. Area Details Victoria known as the "City of Gardens" is on Vancouver Island and is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean. In November 2003 Condé Nast Traveler magazine voted Victoria best city in the Americas, and Vancouver Island top North American Island at an awards ceremony held in New York City. Click here to read about the award. Vancouver Island was voted in 2001 the third best island in the WORLD by Travel and Leisure Magazine readers! The only two islands to beat us were Maui and Kauai!
There are spectacular views of the Cascade and Olympic Mountains in Washington State. We are home to many varieties of wildlife. A favorite tourist activity is whale watching. You are almost guaranteed a show you will never forget by our resident Orca "killer" whales during the summer months. Download a 10 minute on line video of a typical whale watching tour here. Another must see on the island is our fabulous Pacific Rim National Park (after a drive through a rainforest). Native Indian culture is also very popular and accessible to visitors. Vancouver Island has the fastest growing wine district in the province. You can easily spend a day touring and tasting at the beautiful wineries.
BC Ferries can take you to Vancouver within 2 hours or you can experience high speed catamaran cruising on The Clipper with daily 2 hour trips to Seattle Washington USA.
Our weather is considered the best in Canada. In winter we have little or no snow (except what you see in the mountains) . Spring comes early and is glorious with thousands of beautiful flowering cherry and plum trees, daffodils, tulips and every other spring flower imaginable everywhere you look. Our summers are perfect with temperatures ranging from the mid to high 20's celsius, cool nights, no bugs and no humidity. Travel Details The public bus stop is a 3 minute walk. The bus goes directly to the city centre while passing Mayfair Mall, a major shopping centre. You can also take the bus direct to Broadmead Shopping Centre.
